Dr. Hamidi completed her undergraduate studies in Speech Pathology and Audiology at West Virginia University. Recognising how deeply hearing loss affects quality of life, she went on to earn her Doctor of Audiology there, and has spent her career since delivering audiological care with an emphasis on patient-centred practice.

The device is customised to your tinnitus and your hearing profile. That customisation — and the honest judgement about whether it suits you at all — is the clinical work.

A full tinnitus assessment
Your hearing is tested and your audiogram built. Dr. Hamidi establishes what your tinnitus actually is, what may be driving it, and how much it is affecting your sleep, concentration and daily life.

An honest answer on candidacy
Lenire does not suit everyone, and it is not a cure for tinnitus. If the assessment suggests it is unlikely to help you, she will tell you so and point you toward what would.

A fitting configured to you
The settings — sound levels and the intensity of the tongue stimulation — are customised by your healthcare professional to suit your tinnitus, and you are shown exactly how to use the device at home.

Review, and adjustment
You return at set points during the course so progress can be measured against your baseline and the settings adjusted. Treatment itself is two 30-minute sessions a day, at home.
Important safety information
Who Lenire is not for.
Lenire is intended to treat patients 18 years of age and older suffering from at least moderate, subjective tinnitus. Some conditions rule the device out, or require a physician's direction first — part of what the assessment is for.
Contraindications
The Lenire device is contraindicated for persons:
- Who have a pacemaker, defibrillator or any other active implantable device, unless directed by a physician.
- Who are pregnant, unless directed by a physician.
- Who suffer from epilepsy or any other condition that may result in loss of consciousness, unless directed by a physician.
- Who suffer from any condition that causes impaired sensitivity of the tongue, unless directed by a physician or dentist.
- Who have lesions, sores, or inflammation of the oral cavity that could be in contact with the Tonguetip (i.e., tip of tongue and lip area), unless directed by a physician or dentist.
- Who are suffering from any intermittent or chronic neuralgia in the head and neck area, unless directed by a physician.
- Who have tinnitus caused by Ménière's disease, unless directed by a physician. The use of this device has not been evaluated in the TENT clinical studies for Ménière's disease.
- Who have tinnitus confirmed to be from an objective source.
- Who have oral piercings present.
